In the multi-union context in any organisatin, the management has to recognise the representative union. The recognised union enjoys the right to speak and act on behalf of the entire body of workmen. The paper makes an attempt to study the methods used for recognition of trade union as bargaining agent. A brief description of the practices across the country is provided in the earlier part of the paper.
