They then present a discussion on their empirical study conducted in Madhya Pradesh covering details of structure and functions of PRIs under the new Panchayati Raj system, profile of sample studied, methodology, and its findings. They highlight existing reality prevailing in 16 sample villages regarding the support that women leaders received from their spouses and in-laws, and the factors that stiffle empowerment of women despite operationalisation of reservation for women. - Reproduced
