Professor and Head, Parivesh, Centre for Environment, YASHADA, there is tremendous potential for minimising the water scarcity problem if we appropriately plan and adopt certain strategies for conserving this life-giving resource. These include the adoption of various water harvesting techniques, especially rooftop rainwater harvesting. The author opines that the government should adopt a national water policy and water action agenda incorporating the necessary regulations that would help in sustaining and protecting this natural resources.
