Stress is a normal phenomenon in everyone’s life. Optimal performance in any task requires minimal stress, while overstress adversely impacts performance. Technological advancements, overpopulation, urbanisation and modernisation constitute additional burden leading to stress. Nevertheless, the effect of stress varies from individual to individual. People experience stress at different points of time for different reasons. The broad objective of this article is to provide an overview of stress, its major causes and its impact.
